I have always been fascinated by the way the human body moves and how it is important for all of its components parts to work well together to positively influence physical and mental well-being. As a result, this has developed my passion for understanding natural functional human movement patterns and how faulty movement patterns can lead to discomfort and pain.
As we have evolved over many years from our primal past into the way we live today, performing repetitive task, being hunched over desks at work and constantly looking at computer screens and our smart devices, many of us have lost the ability to move fluidly as we are designed to. This has created muscular imbalances in our bodies, which can make us more susceptible to injury.
With my own personal experience in dealing with injuries, through poor movement patterns and taking part in regular physical activity, this has driven me to want to help others overcome their injuries, aches and pains, as well as working on strategies to prevent them from occurring in the first place.
Since qualifying from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine as an Osteopath and Naturopath in 2004, I have developed expertise in a broad spectrum of approaches, combining Osteopathic techniques, myofascial release, medical acupuncture, kinesiology taping and functional rehabilitation exercises to help free people from pain, improve mobility, and optimise physical well-being and performance.
I enjoy treating people of all ages and from all walks of life, but my special interest is in the treatment of athletes and sports enthusiasts, in particular the treatment of postural imbalances causing recurrent low back pain, and complex shoulder injuries.
When I am not doing my Osteopath thing, I enjoy keeping physically active and fit. I have a strong interest in calisthenics (body weight training), strength and conditioning based exercise, primal eating patterns, and more recently trying to perfect a handstand. But most of all I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 sons.
