Meet the team – Cyril Irvine

Jan 29, 2024

Cyril is a much loved osteopath, at Cheadle Osteopathy, as well as one of the business partners.  He also works for ITV as a consultant in manual handling training.

His patients will testify, that you always have a good laugh with Cyril; he will lift your spirits as well as deal with your pain.

Before he became an osteopath he was a cardiothoracic intensive care nurse.  He has travelled the world a few times and despite being originally from Northern Ireland, he has lived in multiple different countries – from Australia to Wales!

He is now settled in Manchester with his wife Gemma (also an osteopath and business partner at Cheadle Osteopathy), their two daughters, Edith and Margot, and a schnoodle called Sascha!

Here are some things you might not know about Cyril….

He fundamentally struggles with making lists of anything.  He hates it because he finds list making it too restrictive not because he is indecisive (or is he….?).  So these next few questions were a challenge for him…

  1. Favourite hobbies: Reading, music, watching football ( Man u – for his sins) and spending time with his two daughters – although he describes that as more of a social experiment than a hobby!
  2. Favourite food: Spicy Vegetarian Crunch roll from Sainsbury’s sushi bar (very specific) or just a bag of chips – he’s easily pleased
  3. Favourite holiday destination: European: Anywhere across Southern France. Long haul – Botswana or Nepal
  4. Favourite Song: Depends on his mood. Into my Arms ( Nick Cave), Kind and Generous (Natalie Merchant) and Unfinished Symphony ( Massive Attack)
  5. Favourite quote: ‘ Perfect is the enemy of good’ (Voltaire), ‘Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him throughout temporary periods of joy’ (WB Yeats)
  6. If you weren’t an Osteopath – what would you be? Panda fluffer or An ITU nurse (stick to what you know)
  7. Best box set recommendations: Loudermilk, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, The Wire
  8. Marmite – love it or hate it? Hate, hate hate!! Truly awful.
